Hi Said,
Thank you for your comment, it is great to hear from somebody with an academic interest in Middle Eastern dance!
I have sent you by email a copy of the PDF of my thesis and the papers I have published so far. I hope this helps and good luck with your thesis.

I am a dancer, choreographer and director for Middle Eastern dances since 1987. Currently I am writing my master thesis in vocational education – educational sciences with a topic related to competence-oriented teaching methods in Middle Eastern dances.
For historical background, I would be very much interested in receiving this article if there has been (maybe) a publishing of this article in a scientific paper.
I would be very happy to get some information about this highly interesting paper.
Best regards from Germany!

Hi Caitlin. Thank you! I will definitely let you know if I am ever in your part of the world.
I love the old dance style from the 40s and 50s. You should find plenty of videos to inspire you on YouTube and on Vimeo. xx

Just started my Middle East Dance journey. Thank you for presenting the different styles and their origins to us. It is beginning to make more sense. Can’t wait to practice to live music. I can’t wait to look up the dancers from th 40’s and 50’s. You should meet my teacher, she is so passionate! If you or any of your friends or students ever come to the Southeast US, please let me know! Thank you! Now I have to find those old movies…

Thank you for your kind words Penny. I am really glad you enjoyed reading about the early days of Raqs sharqi. I find it fascinating too and especially how Raqs sharqi (belly dance) has evolved. xx. Valeria.
